Abstract

SUMMARYMusk ambrette is the most common known photosensitiser in Singapore. Twelve patients with photosensitivity to musk ambrette were studied and we observed that the majority of the patients belonged to the older age group (over 35 years of age). Their presentation was characteristic and 33 % were sensitive to this fragrance without UVL. Five patients remained photosensitive despite avoidance of this perfumed preparation, indicating the possibility of unidentified sources of musk ambrette in the environment.
