Abstract

This chapter reviews the evolution of π-systems based on six- and seven-membered phosphorus heterocycles between 2015 and beginning 2020. Especial emphasis has been placed on their optoelectronic properties and applications. The investigations herein described highlight the rapid progress and exceptional potential of this emerging field of research. The structure of this chapter includes first the description of molecules based on six-membered phosphorus heterocycles, from phosphinines to the largest diphosphahexaarenes and finally the latest developments on systems based on seven-membered phosphorus heterocycles.
