Abstract

Aging is an ongoing process. The ultraviolet rays of the sun cause cutaneous changes such as damage to collagen, solar elastosis, telangiectasias, lentigines, and rhytid formation; the collective description of these negative effects is photodamage. Photorejuvenation is the process of using laser and light sources for returning skin to a more youthful appearance. This article explores the technology, clinical applications, side effects, and future directions of photorejuvenation with vascular lasers, pigmented lasers, and intense pulsed light sources.
