Abstract

We demonstrate a photopolymerization sensitized by CdTe nanocrystals in room temperature ionic liquid. The kinetics of photoinduced electron transfer from cationic CdTe nanocrystals to polymerization initiators in several kinds of ionic liquids is also studied. From the analyses of photoluminescence quenching measurement, the electron transfer rates from CdTe nanocrystals to organic electron acceptors are anomalously large in the ionic liquid medium.
