Abstract
The photophysical properties of exciplexes between the five trans-n-styrylphenanthrenes (n-StPh, with n= 1–4 and 9) and amines (D) were studied by fluorimetry. The quenching rate constants, fluorescence quantum yields and lifetimes were determined in n-hexane and toluene by steady-state and transient emission techniques. The equilibria between StPhs in the singlet excited state and diethylaniline (DEA) and tributylamine (TBA) were characterized in terms of formation (kEM), dissociation (kME) and decay (kE) rate constants of the exciplexes.
