Abstract

The L-shell X-ray intensity ratios I(Ll)/I(Lalpha ), I(Lbeta )/I(Lalpha ), I(Lgamma )/I(Lalpha ) for tungsten (W) and I(Ll)/I(Lalpha ), I(Leta )/I(Lalpha ), I(Lbeta )/I(Lalpha ), I(Lgamma )/I(Lalpha ) for mercury (Hg) have been measured at 17.8, 25.8 and 46.9 keV with a Si(Li) detector. A comparison is made of the experimental results with the calculated values obtained by using the theoretical X-ray emission rates, subshell ionisation cross sections, subshell fluorescence yields and Coster-Kronig transition probabilities. The experimental results are in reasonable agreement with the theoretical values.
