Abstract
The field theoretical method in the treatment of photon interference by D. F. Walls is generalized to deal with photon wave-packet diffraction by slits and apertures using the wave-packet reduction postulation. The general formulae for diffraction by one photon, n photons, and a coherent photon field are obtained. The explicit form of the wave packet of one or several photons is given.
