Abstract

New measurements of mass attenuation coefficients of γ rays in materials containing hydrogen, carbon, and oxygen in the energy range 0.054–1.333 MeV are reported. The hydrogen weight ratio ranges from 0.055 to 0.177. The experimental results are analyzed in terms of the total cross-sections, effective atomic numbers and electron densities. A comparison between the present mass attenuation coefficients and existing compilations is discussed.
