Abstract
We compute high-energy electron-impact (100-1000 eV) dissociation and photodissociation cross sections of HCl producing H and CI neutral atoms through the transition. The electron-impact dissociation cross sections are obtained in the first Born approximation, and are reported for the first time. Hartree-Fock followed by configuration interaction wavefunctions are used and vibrational degrees are considered. The dissociation cross sections as a function of the continuum energy are presented. Photodissociation cross sections are obtained and compared with previous theoretical and experimental results.
