Abstract
Photographic B and V magnitudes for 305 stars in the region of the open cluster NGC 2286 are given in this paper. Combining with other data we derive a mean color excess of Eb- v = 0.40 ± 0.10 mag, a distance modulus of 10.90 ± 0.10 mag, corresponding to a distance of r ≅ 1510 ± 70 pc and an age estimate of 6 × 10 7 yr. On the basis of the obtained HR. diagram, some other properties of the cluster are discussed.
