Abstract

In this paper, the photometric parameters (including the limited core and tidal radii, distances, luminosity and mass functions, total mass, and relaxation time) of the intermediate-aged open star cluster, NGC 2112, are estimated based on data collected from the PPMXL catalog. The kinematic properties of the cluster are also estimated. NGC 2112 lies nearby, at a distance of 898 ± 41 pc from the Sun, with an age of log(age) = 9.25 ± 0.05 assuming solar metallicity (Z = 0.019). The estimated relaxation time of the cluster is shorter than its estimated age, which indicates that the cluster may be dynamically relaxed. The position of the cluster convergent point or apex is computed using the AD diagram method and is found to have the equatorial coordinates 59o.430, -19o.398. Finally, the parameters of the cluster ellipsoidal velocity are also computed.
