Abstract

Ba1−xAl2O4:xEu2+ (x = 0.005–0.1) cyan phosphor ceramics have been fabricated by high-temperature vacuum sintering technology. Under excitation of 365 nm near ultraviolet (NUV) light, a broad emission band with an emission peak at 497 nm can be obtained. White light-emitting diodes (w-LEDs) have been encapsulated by Ba0.9Al2O4:0.1Eu2+ phosphor ceramics, CaAlSiN3:Eu2+ phosphors in glass, and NUV-LED chips. When the w-LEDs have been driven by 300 mA electricity, the obtained white light shows a correlated color temperature of 5050 K and color rendering index of 75, which indicates that the cyan BaAl2O4:Eu2+ ceramic phosphors have potential application in the field of full-spectrum lighting.
