Abstract

Comparison between sophisticated R matrix and simple central-field calculations for photoionization of Al 6+ over a broad energy range is made. Except for the autoionization resonances, which are not included in the central-field model, agreement is excellent. Reasons for, and implications of, this agreement are discussed
