Abstract

Unprotonated ammonia cluster ions, (NH 3) 3 + and (NH 3) 4 +, were detected as well as (NH 3) 2 + in addition to normally observed protonated clusters H +(NH 3) n-1 by VUV photoionization mass spectroscopy using rare- gas resonance lamps (Ar, Kr) and a pulsed molecular-beam system. The results are discussed in relation to probable intra-cluster ion-molecule reactions.
