Abstract

Photoinhibition of respiratory adaptation of Saccharomyces cerevisiae The present work deals with the action spectrum for photoinhibition of the respiratory adaptation in yeast. Four peaks (at 500, 540, 575 and 630 mμ) and a highly active spectral zone at 404 mμ were detected. The action spectrum has a striking similarity to the absorption spectrum for porphyrins. The mechanism of the photoinhibition is briefly discussed.
