Photoinduced palladium-catalyzed radical addition/cyclization of unactivated alkenes with alkyl halides toward alkylated ring-fused quinazolinones

Abstract

A photoexcited palladium-catalyzed radical alkylation /cyclization of alkenes with alkyl halides has been developed under mild conditions involving the hybrid Pd/alkyl radical species. The method enables the preparation of diverse alkylated five-/six-/seven-membered ring-fused quinazolinones in satisfactory yields with good functional group tolerance without generating alkyl radical rearrangement products.
