Abstract

Photoinduced anositropy which can be created by polarized light in photosensitive layers has recently been used for various forms of recording information. It has been known to use the effect for recording two images in orthogonally polarized light beams and for contrast reversal [i], for pseudo-coloring of black-white transparencies [2], for recording the polarization of the object wave in holography [3], and for other purposes. Lightinduced dichroism and birefringence act in different ways upon the image or the diffractive efficiency of holograms, and therefore they should be studied in combination.
