Abstract

The Thorn image-retaining panel is used in a spectrograph to produce luminescence spectrograms with no development process. The image can be printed on to a Panchromatic plate for a permanent record, and examples of discharge lamp spectra are reproduced. The resolution of the panel is 8 line pairs/mm and it is generally less sensitive than a photographic emulsion, but its wavelength response extends to 1.5 mu m.
