Abstract

Photoemission experiments on bulk samples of Ag(Pd), Ag(Mn) alloys have clearly shown the occurrence and position of the virtual resonant bound states associated with the d electrons of the transitionmetal solutes. In Cu(Mn) the occupied resonant bound states of the Mn are not resolved, due to their overlapping the Cu 3d band. The significance for the magnetic behavior of Mn in Ag and Cu matrices is briefly discussed.
