Abstract

Auger effect, electron backscattering and external photoemission were studied at room temperature on clean, cesiated and cesium oxide-covered monocrystalline boron samples in ultra-high vacuum. The diffusion recombination length of thermalized photoelectrons and their surface escape probabilities under negative electron affinity conditions were determined. Photoelectron energy distribution curves show that boron is an indirect bandgap semiconductor.
