Abstract

PbO2 loaded TiO2 nanotubes electrode were prepared using electrodeposition and investigated its photoelectrocatalytic activity at the oxidation of aspirin. It indicated that the Ti/TiO2 NTs/PbO2 electrode had high photoelectrocatalytic activity. The results showed that the removal efficiency of aspirin could be reached up to 65% after 2 h photoelectrolysis at Na2SO4 concentration of 0.1 mol·l−1, aspirin initial concentration of 2 g·l−1, the current density of 0.3 A/cm2, electrode spacing of 1 cm. The reaction mechanism of Ti/TiO2 NTs/PbO2 electrodes photoelectrocatalytic oxidation aspirin mainly caused by the OH· radical attacking aspirin molecules with the generation of small linear organic compounds.
