Abstract
A method for correcting the thermal resistance of the insulation layer by using the current difference and the conductor temperature difference is proposed in this paper. The optical fibre temperature of the three-core photoelectric composite submarine cable is measured by BOTDA; and the corresponding relationship between the temperature variation of the optical fibre and the conductor is performed by finite element analysis, thereby obtaining the difference in temperature of the conductor. After finite element analysis, the corrected thermal resistance is therefore replaced in the calculation. It has been shown by comparison that, the correction of the thermal resistance of the insulation layer can effectively improve the transmission capacity requirements of the cable and the accuracy of the calculation of the transient temperature rise of the conductor.
