Abstract

Coal pyrite has been polarized anodically in the presence and absence of illumination. Photodissolution experiments were also carried out at fixed anodic potentials and the total dissolved iron was determined spectrophotometrically. The experimental data indicate the presence of significant photocurrents resulting in higher dissolution rates in the presence of illumination.
