Abstract

The partial photodissociation cross sections of the two-electron heteronuclear and heteropolar molecular ion HeH+ as a function of wavelength are calculated by using the general formulation for photodissociation due to electronic transitions Lambda to Lambda '. Transitions to the three excited electronic states A1 Sigma +, B1 Sigma + and C1 Pi from the ground state X1 Sigma + have been studied for the vibrational levels from v=0-5 and for rotational level J=1 which is the most probable value of J at room temperature (300K). The gradual increase of the height of the successive maxima is somewhat perturbed. The various factors affecting the relative magnitude of the partial photodissociation cross sections are discussed.
