Abstract

We describe a case of a 14-year-old boy with Terson's syndrome who developed a large preretinal hemorrhage covering the macula in association with a subdural hematoma. Pulsed Nd:YAG laser was used to drain the premacular hemorrhage into the vitreous cavity. Clinical and photographic evidence of rapid resolution of the preretinal hemorrhage and improvement of visual acuity is presented. In selected cases, Nd:YAG laser is a safe alternative for treatment of pediatric patients with dense preretinal hemorrhage in the macular area.
