Abstract

The (γ, p) and (γ, n) reaction cross sections for the 16O nucleus have been calculated. The calculation was carried out with inclusion of the configuration mixing in the continuum using the method proposed by Balashov et al. Wave functions of a Woods-Saxon potential are used as the one-particle wave functions. The inclusion of the channel coupling results in the appearance of a number of resonances in the cross section with widths of 0.1 to 3 MeV. In general, the obtained results are close to the results of the traditional “particle-hole” approach omitting the specific character of the continuous spectrum. The results are compared with the experimental data. The 15N(p, n) 15O reaction cross section was also calculated to check the main approximation of the theory.
