Abstract

365 nm and 450 nm LED lights were used as energy sources to trigger the photodeposition of Pt nanoparticles as cocatalyst on the surface of Bi2WO6 nanosheets, respectively. From the TEM images analysis, more Pt nanoparticles are observed on the surface of the 450-nm-illuminated Pt/Bi2WO6 than the 365-nm-illuminated Pt/Bi2WO6. The 450-nm-illuminated sample showed higher adsorption capacity, higher charge separation efficiency, better optical absorption property in the visible light region, and thus better performance in decolorization of methylene blue (MB). The performance of the photocatalysts with photodeposited Pt as cocatalyst is highly depending on the excitation wavelength in the photodeposition process.
