Abstract

Photoelectric properties of poly(titanyloxo-phthalocyanine) bound silica hybrid film were investigated. The solution for the silica hybrid film consists of soluble poly(titanyloxo-phthalocyanine) (PTiOPc) and a sol solution prepared from the hydrolysis of r-glycidoxypropyl-trimethoxysilane and methyl trimethoxysilane. PTiOPc–silica hybrid films were prepared from the above solution by sol–gel process, to give transparent film. The film showed pencil hardness of 3-H when coated on a glass substrate. The PTiOPc–silica hybrid films coated on an ITO glass showed photocurrent higher than 4 μA/cm 2, upon excitation with a visible light under an external potential of 0.6 V (versus Ag/AgCl). The photoconductivity was not much affected by the bridging group between the phthalocyanine ring, but linearly dependent on the content of PTiOPc up to 40 wt.%.
