Abstract The hydrodynamic size of a doubly-threaded dimer of an α-cyclodextrin (α-CD) derivative bearing two recognition sites, azobenzene (Azo) and heptamethylene moieties (C7), linked with an oligo(ethylene glycol) chain was controlled by photoisomerization of the Azo moiety.
