Abstract

Transparent TiO 2 films are prepared by sintering colloids on a conducting glass support. TiO 2 particulate film exhibits reversible photochromic and n-type semiconductor properties. The recombination between the photogenrated charge carriers can be suppressed by applying an external anodic bias. Thin semiconductor films provide a convenient way to enhance the efficiency of the photocatalytic degradation. The electrochemically assisted photocatalysis can be applied to photocatalytic reactors with immobilized semiconductor particles.
