Abstract
Previous studies on the photochemistry of the system hydrogen peroxide—carbon monoxide—oxygen—isobutane, from which we obtained the rate constant for the reaction of hydroxyl with isobutane, have been continued with other aliphatic hydrocarbons and additional hydroxyl radical rate constants have been obtained. The constants obtained were: C 3H 6, 13.4 × 10 −12; C 3H 8, 2.2 × 10 −12; n-C 4H 10, 2.9 × 10 −12; c-C 4H 8, 1.2 × 10 −12; and c-C 6H 12, 6.7 × 10 −12 cm 3 molecule −1 s −1. For the reactions: ▪ by a treatment of earlier data on the photochemistry of the system hydrogen peroxide—carbon monoxide, we have obtained k 5 = 5.7 × 10 −15 and k 6 = 3.1 × 10 −15 cm 3 molecule −1 s −1.
