Abstract

Reactions of photocatalytic reduction of carbon dioxide in aqueous CdS, SiC, TiO 2, and SrTiO 3 suspensions with supported catalytic additives of Pt, Rh, Ru, Ag and Cu have been studied. In the absence of specially added electron donors, the carbon dioxide photoreduction is observed on the TiO 2 and SrTiO 3 suspensions only, those with CdS and SiC being inactive. The ratio of the reaction products (CO, C, methane) is dependent on the nature of the metal-catalyst on the semiconductor surface.
