Abstract

Photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue from aqueous solution has been carried out using Al2O3/Fe2O3 photo catalyst under visible radiation. Effect of various parameters like pH, concentration of dyes, amount of semiconductor and light intensity has been studied on the rate of reaction. Various control experiments were carried out, which indicated that semiconductor Al2O3/Fe2O3 played a key role in photocatalytic degradation of dye. A suitable tentative mechanism has been proposed for photocatalytic degradation of dye.
