Abstract

We report the conversion of CO to CO 2 in a sulphuric acid aerosol irradiated at 193 nm, and suggest that the proposed mechanism, which involves the reaction of CO with OH resulting from the photodissociation of H 2SO 4 in the primary process, might play a part in maintaining the CO 2 atmosphere of Venus.
