Abstract
In this minireview, photo-mediated reductions of CO2 to formic and other carboxylic acids by Ni-chelate catalysts were discussed with mechanistic details. Formic and other carboxylic acid products are formed exclusively over CO by insertion of CO2 in Ni−H/Ni−C bonds in these Ni-catalysed light-mediated CO2 reductions. Role of chelating ligands in modulating the catalytic efficiency and product selectivity of such catalysis has also been encompassed in the minireview.
