Abstract

We f i r s t obse rved the pho to-magne toe lec t r i c effect in p n junctions in cadmium tel lur ide used as nuc lea r radia t ion de tec to r s [1]. Invest igat ions were conducted on the appara tus desc r ibed in [2] with the addition of supply c i rcu i t s for d i r ec t and r e v e r s e bias of the p n junctions. In o rde r to e l iminate c o m ple te ly the influence of the junction photo emf on the magnitude of the pho to-magne toe lec t r i e effect of the signal, the la t te r was defined as the d i f ference between the measu red values of the photo-ef fec t s ignals in the p n junction upon applicat ion of a magnet ic field and without the field.
