Abstract

Naphthalene, 1-methylnaphthalene, 1-chloronaphthalene and phenanthrene in iso-octane under fluid conditions exhibit broad structureless phosphorescence spectra which are attributable to their triplet excimers. Kinetic analyses of the phosphorescence emissions confirm the existence of the triplet excimer in all the compounds studied. Rate constants are reported for various processes associated with the triplet monomers and excimers.
