Abstract

Poly(dimethyl siloxane) (PDMS) membrane solve problems of sulfonic acid-based membrane for high temperature proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs). PDMS was reacted with 3-aminopropyl triethoxysilane (APTES) which bonded with phosphorous groups of phosphorous oxychloride (POCl 3). The proton conductivity showed 0.7 S/cm above 130 °C. Through phosphorous groups, membrane may be used as high temperature PEMFCs at low humid conditions.
