Abstract
1. 1. The activity of acid and alkaline phosphomonoesterases was determined spectrophotometrically in the digestive gland of four species of intertidal gastropods and in their digenean parasites. 2. 2. Acidase activity is increased and alkase activity is decreased in the digestive gland of host species heavily infected by sporocysts. 3. 3. In contrast, alkase activity is increased and acidase activity is unchanged or decreased in the digestive gland of host species lightly infected by rediae.
