Abstract

The complex Ru 3(CO) 6[P(Ph)C(Ph)C(Ph)](μ-PPh 2) 2 has been obtained by treating (μ-H)Ru 3(CO) 7(μ-PPh 2) 3 with C 2Ph 2 in aliphatic hydrocarbons and its structure has been determined by an X-ray diffraction study. The alkyne inserts into a RuP bond and there is reductive elimination of benzene, formed by coupling of a phenyl group of the μ-PPh 2 ligand with the cluster μ-hydride.
