Abstract

d-Mannose 6-phosphate has been identified as the sole phosphorylated component in acid hydrolyzates of both Hansenula capsulata NRRL Y-1842 and H. holstii NRRL Y-2448 phosphomannans. The evidence presented indicates that phosphomannans are polymannosidic phosphodiesters in which one secondary phosphoryl is linked as mannose 6-phosphate and the other as α-hemiacetal phosphate.
