Abstract
We have studied the phonons in mixed A1−xBxC crystal using the concentration-dependent model. A mixing parameter λ has been introduced to explain the two-mode behaviour for whole of the composition range of the mixed crystal and the pure crystal behaviour at exact x = 0 and x = 1.0. We have applied the above model to Ga1−xAlxSb to exhibit the two-mode behaviour as a function of x at the zone centre. Explicit calculations for the phonon dispersion curves in the symmetry direction have also been performed for x = 0, x = 0.45 and x = 1.0 and are found to be in agreement with the experimental values wherever available.
