Abstract

AbstractThe dampings and frequency shifts (one‐dimensional case) for acoustic phonons as well as for the soft mode due to cubic and quartic anharmonism are derived for the Silverman model of one‐and two‐dimensional displacive‐type ferroelectrics. Contributions from the various phonon–phonon interactions to the phonon dampings are considered and the damping critical exponents are found. In the calculations a self‐consistent formalism in the hydrodynamical limit is used.
