Abstract

A hole burning phenomenon was studied in the system where piezoelectric powder particles resonantly oscillate under application of rf electric field. Holes were introduced by applying pulses of a large-amplitude rf electric field to a capacitor containing the powders. The written phonon hole was detected in the frequency spectrum of the electric impedance of the capacitor. The mechanism of hole creation was analyzed from the measured complex impedance and attributed to the change of oscillation characteristics of particles.
