Philosophy and Approach for Qualification of Space Hardware, Data Handling System

Abstract

Any system developed for a space application needs to be qualified separately. Its margins have to be demonstrated with respect to electrical, thermal and mechanical design. Generally, a dedicated qualification model is planned for space system prior to fabrication of the flight hardware. Hence, a standard system calls for one qualification model at the start of the programme. However, there are certain payload elements whose design changes from one mission to another. Approach for demonstration of the design margins for one such payload element, Base band data handling system is presented here.
