Abstract
Henry Sedgwick was a moral philosopher at Cambridge University who published this little collection of essays on practical ethics toward the end of the 19th century. Oxford University Press has now brought the collection back into print as the first volume in its newly inaugurated and prestigious series on practical and professional ethics. It comes with an introduction by the eminent ethicist Sisela Bok, the author of a notable book about lying and truthfulness, and its appearance was a featured event at last year's meeting of the Association for Practical and Professional Ethics in Dallas.
