Abstract

The letter of Philip V to the Athenian cleruchs in Hephaestia on Lemnos was discovered in 1938 during the Italian excavations of the Cabirion there. It was published by Dr. Silvio Accame in Riv. Fil. LXIX (1941), 179 ff., and repeated by Robert, Rev. des Études Grecques, 1944, 221, no. 150. The stone is now in the Epigraphical Museum in Athens (EM 13148). It has been damaged since its original publication. The revised text of the inscription given here is based on a study of the stone in Athens by Fraser in 1951, and on a combined study of the squeeze and a photograph of the squeeze (pl. X, 2) by both of us.
