Abstract

In the crystal structure of the title compound, C12H9NO5S, the dihedral angle between the mean planes of the two aromatic rings is 52.96 (5)°. The supramolecular architecture is dictated by the alternation of $$ {\text{R}}_{4}^{4} $$ (28) and $$ {\text{R}}_{4}^{4} $$ (36) C–H···O cages. Two inversion related phenyl rings form slightly offset face to face π···π interactions. The supramolecular architecture of the title compound, Phenyl 4-nitrobenzenesulfonate is dictated by the alternation of $$ {\text{R}}_{4}^{4} $$ (28) and $$ {\text{R}}_{4}^{4} $$ (36) C–H···O cages. Two inversion related phenyl rings form slightly offset face to face π···π interactions .
