Abstract
Obesity is becoming more common worldwide, putting a strain on healthcare systems. The first option for achieving significant weight loss is a comprehensive lifestyle modification program that includes diet, exercise, and behavior therapy. The inherent difficulties associated with maintaining lifestyle changes contribute to unsatisfactory long-term outcomes and weight regain in obesity management. Pharmacological interventions, in addition to lifestyle changes, can help with weight loss. Many weight loss drugs have been approved but withdrawn due to ineffectiveness and safety concerns. We report a case of severe acute pancreatitis in a patient with long-term Phentermine usage for weight loss.
