Abstract

During the Covid-19 pandemic, many companies are laying off their employees. With today's difficult economy, those who used to work as factory workers have to rack their brains to be able to continue their lives. Some sell food, some become tailors, and some change professions to become online motorcycle taxi drivers because this profession does not require a diploma and special skills.
 This study aims to describe how career switching in online motorcycle taxi drivers and the gender paradigm that still occurs in society. Moreover, the profession of being a motorcycle taxi driver is still dominated by men. Even though female motorcycle taxi drivers are no less reliable than men.
 The specific target to be achieved in this research is to educate the public not to give the impression that the online motorcycle taxi driver profession is inappropriate for women who should only take care of the household from cooking, cleaning the house to taking care of children. This research is also expected to add insight and contribution regarding gender studies that are still happening in society.
 This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The data collection technique was carried out by in-depth interviews. The object of research is a female online motorcycle driver in Prigen-Pasuruan. The informants were selected from those who used to be factory workers who due to the pandemic had to be laid off and changed professions to become online motorcycle taxi drivers.
